Happy New Year from NPPA Region 6.....
I hope your year has started off as well as mine has. I apologize for seeming to disappear in November and December. I was out for almost 4 weeks with a bacterial infection and then had surgery on my foot in early December. I've been recovering since, but finally feel good again. It is a great feeling to jumpstart the year finally feeling healthy.
What a year we have coming for NPPA events.
The NPPA Best of Photojournalism contest is now accepting entries. There are several new divisions and as always, there is no entry fee. Deadline to enter is February 1.
The Clip contest will be going digital this year. Watch for more information soon.
Are you doing multimedia? Then make sure you enter the Multimedia Contest .
The NPPA is partnering with The Center for Innovation in College Media to offer the Hands On Workshop and Multimedia Master Class for students and professors in nashville, Tennessee. The event will be held Mach 6-8 at Vanderbilt University. NPPA vice president Jack Zibluk and i have been working together to develop this partnership. We are excited about partnering in this wonderful student multimedia workshop.
The NPPA Annual Conference will be in Louisville, Kentucky this summer. Dates are May 30-June 1. The very successful 4-day Multimedia Immersion program will again be offered running May 27-30. If you are looking for an in-depth training session, this is it. Sign up early, there are only 80 slots and it will fill fast. Watch the NPPA annual meeting page for more info.
The 50th annual Flying Short Course was a success with stops in Washington, D.C.; Chicago and San Jose. I have heard great reports about the national faculty and the local day programs at every stop. Plans are being made for next years FSC now and I'm lobbying for a southern stop. Stay tuned for more info on that hopefully soon.
By the way, if you're doing multimedia, send me links to your work and we'll plug them into the regional page to showcase what you're doing.
If you've got news about moves, births, deaths, etc. let us know at r6news@gmail.com.
